At Target Zero Training we support experienced plasterers who want to achieve their Level 2 NVQ Plastering through a workplace assessment method. This qualification is competence based which means you will be assessed in your real work environment without the need for classroom teaching or written exams. The NVQ recognises your skills, supports your CSCS Skilled Worker application and strengthens your position within the construction sector.
We work with plasterers across the United Kingdom who are already carrying out plastering work on residential, commercial or heritage projects. Our assessors visit you on site, observe you carrying out real plastering tasks and guide you through the evidence process so that your qualification reflects your actual competence. We do not ask candidates to attend classes or to leave the job site in order to gain this qualification.
You can enquire today by calling 01245 379496 or emailing sales@targetzerogroup.co.uk.
What is the Level 2 NVQ Plastering
The Level 2 NVQ Plastering is a competence based qualification for working plasterers who want a nationally recognised endorsement of their skills. It is awarded by an accredited awarding body regulated by Ofqual and is accepted across the United Kingdom. The NVQ confirms that the individual can complete plastering tasks safely, to an industry standard and in a productive manner.
This qualification is not a course. There is no classroom and no written exam. It is an assessment and evidence process that takes place while you continue with your normal job. The NVQ can support your application for the Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card when combined with the CITB Health Safety and Environment Test.
Who the Level 2 NVQ Plastering is for
This NVQ is suitable for individuals who already work as plasterers. Examples include:
• Plasterers working for construction firms
• Site based plasterers on commercial projects
• Self employed plasterers on domestic work
• Plasterers on refurbishment and renovation contracts
• Plasterers on heritage and restoration projects
• Plasterers working under supervision of main contractors
We can also support individuals who have experience but are between jobs. If this applies to you we will discuss evidence strategies such as witness testimonies and historical work records.

To enrol you must:
• Be working as a plasterer or have recent experience
• Be able to demonstrate real plastering tasks on live jobs
• Have access to a supervisor or manager for witness testimony

If you are unsure about eligibility, contact our support team for guidance.
How the NVQ is assessed
At Target Zero Training the Level 2 NVQ Plastering is completed through the On Site Assessment and Training method known as OSAT. We assess your competence through real work activities rather than simulated environments. The assessment journey includes:
• Registration and onboarding
• Initial profiling of your experience
• Production of a personalised assessment plan
• Workplace observations by a qualified assessor
• Collection of workplace evidence
• Witness testimonies from supervisors or managers
• Professional discussion to confirm knowledge
• Internal quality assurance
• Certification by the awarding body
We provide guidance at each stage so that you understand what is required and what evidence is most efficient to collect.
What workplace evidence looks like
Evidence is gathered from your real job. This can include:
• Photographs of work in progress
• Photographs of finished plaster surfaces
• Photographs of tool usage and methods
• Risk assessments and method statements
• Job sheets and job records
• Witness statements from supervisors or managers
• Timesheets and work logs
• Delivery notes for materials
• Induction records and toolbox talks
• Company policies and procedures
• Site drawings or specifications
We do not ask for unnecessary documents. Our assessors guide you on what is required so the process remains efficient.
Workplace observation
The workplace observation is a key part of this NVQ. A qualified assessor will visit you at a suitable job site and observe you carrying out plastering tasks. This observation confirms:
• Safe working practices
• Correct use of materials and tools
• Correct preparation of surfaces
• Correct application and finishing
• Communication with colleagues and supervisors
• Productivity and planning
Observations are arranged to fit around your working schedule and do not require staged work or artificial environments.
Professional discussion
Alongside workplace evidence you will complete a structured professional discussion with your assessor. This is not an exam. It is a guided conversation that confirms your knowledge of:
• Health and safety requirements
• Planning and productive work practices
• Materials and background preparation
• Tools and techniques
• Problem solving and defects
• Standards of quality and finishing
• Communication and workflow
The discussion is recorded and used as supporting evidence within your portfolio.
NVQ pathways and occupational scope
There are two main occupational pathways within the Level 2 NVQ Plastering:
• Solid plastering

Both pathways are nationally recognised. Each pathway has units that reflect the tasks carried out on site.
Solid plastering units may include:

When you enquire we will establish which pathway applies to your work role.
