What is the SSSTS Refresher course?
People coming to the end of their five year SSSTS (Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Scheme) certificate need to renew their certificates for a further five years. However, much can change in legislation and on site safety requirements over that period.
Target Zero’s SSSTS online refresher course is designed to ensure those in a supervisory role or management role are up to date with current legislation and procedures to be able to continue working effectively in their job. The course covers:

• Construction regulations
• Injury reporting.
The course will also include a variety of Toolbox Talks to help refresh their presentations skills. Once the refresher course has been completed, which must be done before your current five year certificate expires, Target Zero will issue you with an extended five year certificate. If however, your existing five year certificate has expired, you will need to re-take the two day SSSTS training course.
How to take the SSSTS online refresher course
The one day course is held online via Zoom, in real time by an experienced and engaging Target Zero trainer that has years of industry knowledge and ‘muddy boot’ experience. The format is a classroom style with other people on the course, with plenty of opportunity for discussions and group activities to ensure the course material is understood.
At the end of the training, which can be completed in any location that suits you as long as you have a computer/laptop that’s fitted with a camera and microphone, and a good internet connection, you will be required to complete a 30 minute exam. This is done through an online form, and you will be monitored on camera by the course tutor.

The CITB Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Scheme certification is an industry standard for employees in a supervisory or management position working on UK construction and civil engineering sites. The SSSTS certificate is valid for just five years and people should attend an SSSTS Refresher online course prior to its expiry to get another five year certificate. It is often recommended that the refresher course be taken within the fourth and fifth years of their existing certification as legislation and legal procedures can change and develop in this time period, particularly in terms of health and safety.
