About the Category 2 Excavation Safety Course
This EUSR Excavating Practices (Cat 2) course has been designed to equip attendees with all the necessary skills and knowledge to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches. The course will cover how to do this using both hand and power tools.
Excavations take careful planning, and this course demonstrates how important it is to take a tailored approach to each job as they can vary so much from project to project. It also demonstrates the use of smaller tools alongside large-scale machinery to get the job done.
Course Outline
This course is delivered using practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, giving you a well-rounded awareness of digging techniques and excavation. The course reflects national standards as well as industry best practice and is fully accredited. You will learn how to:
- Interpret utility drawings and identify symbols and coded information
- Ensure all necessary location, marking and site safety provisions have been carried out correctly prior to any excavation work commencing
- Identify the dangers and hazards associated with excavations
- Select and use safe digging techniques to carry out and maintain excavations
Upon successful completion, you will receive your EUSR accredited certificate and ID card which is valid for three years.
