How is an SMSTS training course taught?
The CITB SMSTS training course is taught over five full days either remotely or at one of our classroom venues in Chelmsford and Peterborough. Our experienced trainers will prepare each delegate for the reality of working in the reality of the construction environment. Course content will be delivered by a range of case studies, assessments and exercises, including site briefings and site setups.
How do you achieve an SMSTS qualification?
The examination takes place on the afternoon of the last day of the course and consists of 25 multiple choice questions and 5 safety critical questions. You will need to complete each of the exercises, case studies and assessments throughout the course to the best of your ability and the satisfaction of the trainer and 100% attendance across the five full days is required. Following successful completion of the course, you will be equipped to fulfil your health and safety responsibilities in the construction world.
How long is an SMSTS certificate valid for?
From the date of completion of an SMSTS training course, this certificate is valid for five years. Following this, we also provide SMSTS Refresher courses to keep your knowledge and skills up to date. Best practices and working culture in the construction industry change regularly which means it is essential that anyone working in construction is kept abreast of current rules and regulations. Therefore, it is recommended that you wait no longer than three years after your initial SMSTS training before taking the refresher course.
