What You’ll Learn
The SMSTS Training Course covers everything a construction site manager needs to legally and effectively manage safety on site. Across five days of training, you’ll explore:
- The Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation
- Legal responsibilities and duties of a site manager
- Site-specific risk assessments and method statements
- Effective communication and behavioural safety
- Toolbox talks, site inductions, and monitoring procedures
- Managing contractors and sub-contractors
- Environmental awareness and best practices
All content is fully aligned with current legislation and CITB standards.
Course Format: Online or Classroom-Based
You can choose to attend the SMSTS course:
- Online (Live via Zoom): Interactive sessions with real-time tutor support, group activities, and discussions no travel needed.
- In-Person: Delivered at our training centres across the UK, ideal for those who prefer a classroom environment.
Both formats are delivered by experienced, qualified instructors with real-world construction knowledge.
SMSTS Assessment and Certification
To successfully complete the SMSTS Training Course, you must:
- Attend all sessions
- Participate actively in group discussions and exercises
- Pass a multiple-choice exam on the final day
Upon passing, you’ll receive a CITB-accredited SMSTS certificate, valid for five years. Before expiry, you must take the SMSTS Refresher Course to maintain certification.
What You’ll Need (Online Course Only)
If you choose the online option, you’ll need:
- A desktop or laptop with a webcam and microphone
- Stable internet connection
- A quiet space to join the training sessions
Please note: mobile phones and tablets are not permitted for CITB-accredited online courses.
What Happens After You Book?
Once you book your SMSTS Training Course, you will receive:
- Full joining instructions
- Course schedule and login details (for online courses)
- Technical requirements and support
- Delegate Information Form and Initial Assessment
- Zoom link (sent by 6pm the evening before, for online courses)
